Will is a London & Manchester (UK) based director of photography and camera operator with over 7 years' experience shooting narrative fiction, commercials, music promos, branded content and fashion.
A passionate storyteller, Will is driven by the use of lighting, colour and composition to create meaningful and thought provoking imagery, employing his strong technical knowledge to achieve the best for the production. He places particular importance upon the collaborative process that comes with working alongside directors and producers, prioritising the development of the look and feel of each project as part of a strong crew.
In May 2016 he completed principal photography on the feature film Trendy, directed by Louis Lagayette. Trendy premiered at the 25th Raindance Festival, Leicester Square in September 2017. As cinematographer, Will was responsible for operating the main camera and lighting over 60 sets in a shoot that lasted just over 6 weeks. This included both scenes of scale with hundreds of SAs in underground nightclubs to intimate, emotionally charged scenes with single characters.
After graduating with a first class BA in Film Studies from Queen Mary University of London, Will embarked on a freelance career in the camera department. He continued his study at the NFTS, completing 2 short courses to further aid his development as a cinematographer. Most recently Will has had a hand in teaching, notably working at both the Central School of Speech and Drama and ALT Actor Training to aid the understanding of screen work for actors enrolled there. Additionally Will has taught one to one sessions for film crew looking to gain a better understanding of cinematography and camerawork.
Will shares a studio space in Hackney Wick with Louis Lagayette, an award winning director and filmmaker. Recently Pip Carson has joined the studio as the resident actress and film editor. Please feel free to pop by for tea and a chat.
